#Thiago #Alves wins in UFC 124 with a unanimous decision, 30-27 on all cards against John Howard

Husky Tools teams up with MMA Fighter Thiago Alves who won his fight at UFC 124

Thiago Alves wins in UFC 124 with a unanimous decision, 30-27 on all cards against John Howard

Thiago Alves wins in UFC 124 last night and credits Mike Dolce and he "Dolce Diet" for helping him come to the fight ready and at proper weight.  He previously has had some trouble in the past and has shown up for fights looking drained as if trying too hard to make weight.  He has previously stated that he has starved himself for weeks prior to fights to make the 170-pound welterweight division  The "Dolce Diet" seemed to do the trick as Thiago Alves came ready to fight and looked like a beast ready to smash some skulls.
Last night Thiago Alves picked up a unanimous decision, 30-27 on all cards for the win against John Howard

And here is Thiago Alves is wearing Husky Tools on his shorts.  Husky is now sponsoring this MMA Champ.

If Husky is looking for another person to sponsor how about the President of Light Tool Supply , Michael Elson?  I am ready!  LOL.

Looks like more Tool Companies are sponsoring MMA fighters these days.  It think it is a good match and smart of the big manufactures to take notice.  The latest is Husky Tools and Thiago Alves.  I always love watching Thiago Alves fight.  I am looking forward to seeing him wearing the Husky logo on his shorts.  It most certainly is good for The Tool Industry getting more exposure.  People who buy tools spend money and they also seem to like sports like Mixed Martial Arts.  Good luck Thiago and smart move by Husky picking a talented member of The MMA Community to represent their products.

Husky Tools teams up with MMA Fighter Thiago Alves
DEERFIELD BEACH, FLa. (Dec. 3, 2010) – On Dec. 11, 2010 in Montreal, Canada, Welterweight MMA Artist Thiago Alves will sport the Husky Hand Tools logo on his shorts as he takes on rival John Howard.

Husky Hand Tools aligned itself with Alves because of the similarities in traits between the brand and the fighter:  hard working, diverse and powerful.

“Because of all the upfront hard work and innovative powerful designs, Husky Hand Tools and Accessories continue to deliver reliable performance that helps to make tough jobs easier” said Iron Bridge Tools Karen Gough.  “Just like when you use a Husky Hand Tool, in Mixed Martial Arts success comes by combining power with finesse and reliability; and that is also the winning combination you get with the passionate and committed Thiago Alves.”

Thiago Alves, a native of Brazil and current resident of Coconut Creek, FL has been a winning MMA Fighter for 12 years. Gaging Tips

                                                                 http://www.mahrfederal.com/

    3, 2, 1, CONTACT - MEASURING THICKNESS
    George Schuetz, Mahr Federal Inc.

Thickness is one of the most frequently measured dimensions, and also one that is very easy to understand.  So you might think that someone would come up with a one-style-fits-all measurement approach good for just about every kind of thickness application, but it just isn’t so.  There are many approaches to measuring thickness, depending on the requirements of the part.
Some of the most common include: micrometers, thickness gages, air thickness gages and motorized gages with many variations of each.  They range in price and complexity from a few hundred dollars for a standard handheld tool, to a few thousand dollars for ones that are custom-built for the application.  One important consideration that makes each of these solutions different from the others is the way the gage makes contact with the part.
Whether it's the thickness of a piece of sheet metal, a silicon wafer, a latex glove or photographic film, we are usually talking about measuring the distance between two parallel surfaces.  Accurately determining the length of a line that is perpendicular to two parallel surfaces has everything to do with how the gage makes contact with the part.
Micrometer.  A handheld micrometer is a simple low-cost method for measuring the thickness of a piece of sheet metal, for example, which is relatively stiff and thick.  It certainly provides a lot of measurement range.  With flat and parallel contacts and constant gaging force applied with the friction or ratchet drive, the micrometer can self-align to the part for a fast and accurate reading.  A potential problem with the self-aligning flat contacts of the micrometer is that they can bridge across and "average out" minute variations in thickness.  So if higher resolution is required, you should look for a different approach.
Thickness Gage.  The portable thickness gage raises the ante on resolution by combining a flat anvil-type reference surface on the bottom with a radiused (ball) measurement contact on top.  Making a single point measurement eliminates the possibility of gage error that could be caused by faulty parallelism of the contacts.  This would be a good gage for a narrow strip of photographic film where a spot check of thickness is required.
Air Thickness Gage.  In some cases the part may be so susceptible to scratching or marring that any amount of gaging contact could destroy the part.  An air thickness gaging system directs thin, precision-aligned, opposing streams to each side of the part which is held perpendicular to the air streams on a ground base.  The gage measures back pressure on each of the air streams.  Since the back pressure is directly proportional to the distance between the contact point and the nozzle, it is easy for the gage to automatically calculate thickness.  This non-contact technique provides a means of sliding the part around for measuring thickness variation.  The air provides enough cushion to help float the part as it is repositioned.  The use of differential probing provides fast, accurate measurement regardless of where the part is positioned.  Most importantly, the part is not damaged by the gage contacts.
Custom Thickness Gage.  Many soft, compressible parts have rigid, standardized specifications for how they are to be measured.  In such cases the design of custom gages will frequently take into consideration the size and shape of the contact along with the gaging pressure applied to the part.  Usually the gaging pressure is defined as a dead load weight to assure constant force over the full range of measurement.  However, with some compressible materials, such as paper or latex rubber, the amount of time that the load is applied to the part will also affect the reading from the gage.  In these cases, the gage may incorporate a motorized measuring contact along with the cam actuated device to retract the contact after a specific period of time.  This uniform load and dwell measurement prevents the parts from deforming and setting.
As you can see, the method of probe contact is a very helpful way to consider how to set up thickness gaging systems across a wide range of applications.  Choosing the right approach can dramatically decrease the chance of inadvertently making a bad measurement.

And Here Thiago Alves is wearing Husky Tools on his shorts.  Husky is now sponsoring this MMA Champ.

If Husky is looking for another person to sponsor how about the President of Light Tool Supply, Michael Elson?  I am ready!

    Mitutoyo

    History
Mitutoyo - A History of Metrology Leadership
The world's largest metrology company was founded in 1934 by Yehan Numata with one product - the micrometer. Mitutoyo's philosophy at that time was to make the best mechanical micrometer in the world. But also to produce them in quantities that made them affordable and available to all of manufacturing so they could improve the quality of the products they manufactured. This philosophy was expanded in the next several decades to include a wider product offering focused on mechanical, dimensional gaging products. Mitutoyo focused its R&D and production efforts on creating the most advanced micrometers, calipers, indicators and other measurement tools in the world.
As electronic technology became more widespread in the 70s, Mitutoyo applied electronics to its line of dimensional gaging equipment to include electronic, or digital, measuring tools. During this time it also began to offer larger, more complex and more sensitive measuring instruments, including optical comparators, form measuring equipment, and coordinate measuring machines. As statistical process control (SPC) was introduced, Mitutoyo led the world in the development of output gages, interfaces, data collectors and analysis software to take advantage of this new metrology science.
When the computer made its way into the field of metrology, Mitutoyo again shifted its focus to include this technology into its product offering and push measuring accuracies into the sub-micron range. Today, Mitutoyo presents its 6,000+ products as integrated, computer-based metrology systems, where they can be interconnected to form closed-loop-measuring networks.
Mitutoyo America Corporation was formed in 1963 and is headquartered in Aurora, Illinois (just outside of Chicago). Mitutoyo America offers the full product line of precision measuring tools, instruments and equipment with a distribution network, training and education classes, software development, and service support to provide a comprehensive metrology organization.
As the leading metrology company in the world, Mitutoyo is committed to future product development that applies breakthrough technologies to its full range of dimensional measurement tools, instruments and systems.
